As the 2017 Draft approached, Enlow was the fifth-highest-rated high school right-hander in the Draft class, one who many felt could go in the first round in that June’s Draft. There was a commitment to LSU to contend with, a big reason why he landed in the third round, where the Twins went well over slot to sign him for $2 million. Though his stuff backed up a bit as a pro, he did pitch his way to High A ball in 2019, his second full season, then saw the stuff tick back up during his time in instructional league play in 2020. His progress was halted when an elbow injury turned out to be a torn UCL that required Tommy John surgery in June.
Before the injury, all of Enlow’s stuff was pointing in the right direction. His fastball, which had dipped to the low 90s in 2019, was back up and touched 97 mph at instructs, albeit in a small sample size. He’s worked on fastball movement along with adding velocity. He’s gotten more depth on his curve again, up to 80 mph, with more vertical movement than he’d shown previously as a pro. He has a slider with cutter action that’s effective, and his changeup gives him the chance to have four average or better offerings.
Enlow has generally been around the strike zone and shows a good overall feel for pitching, so sharpening his stuff will be key to miss more bats as he moves up the ladder. He was just 22 for all of the 2021 season, so there's time for him to come back from the surgery, room for growth and the ability for him to be a mid-rotation type starter in the big leagues.
